QuickTurn Simulator Upgrade Completed

GRAPEVINE, Texas, Sep. 5, 2001–

QuickTurn's Citation I/II simulator has successfully undergone a major visual system upgrade. The new system integrates an Evans & Sutherland Liberty 200 image generator and two raster-only display monitors from DVI. The combination greatly improves visual resolution, allows for training scenarios in daylight, twilight and nighttime conditions, and is fully upgradeable.

An additional benefit is the new ability to operate from specific airports. Prior to the modification, simulator sessions were confined to a generic airport; with the modification, the simulator can replicate actual airports using the Evan & Sutherland's updateable database. Available airports include Memphis, Tenn.; JFK, N.Y.; and Denver, Colo., and additional airports will be brought online during the coming months.

The simulator was re-certified with the new equipment by the FAA on Aug. 8, 2001.

Evans & Sutherland is located in Salt Lake, Utah. DVI is located in Binghamton, N.Y.
