The right seat crewmember program was developed for two reasons: One being SimuFlite's need to fill the right seat in the simulator when an odd number of clients are scheduled together in a single class. In this situation it becomes necessary to pair the single client with one of our right seat crewmembers in order to accomplish the appropriate flight training. The other being our desire to assist low time pilots with developing the experience required to operate in a two-pilot crew environment. At times, our simulators are running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and therefore a right seat crewmember may be necessary anytime from early morning through very late night sessions. Each simulator session consists of anywhere from 2-4 hours of simulator time, which is preceded and followed by a 1 hour briefing and de-briefing of the session. The minimum requirement for applying for a right seat position is the possession of a Commercial pilot certificate with instrument and multiengine ratings. Please keep in mind that although CAE SimuFlite does not pay an hourly fee for performing these duties, we do pay for all of the training required for you to become a qualified second-in-command crewmember, and give you a SIC Part 135.293 checkride. As an additional incentive to our right seat crewmembers, a scholarship program has been established, which allows for the possibility of receiving a type rating in a Lear Jet, Cessna Citation or Beechjet. You will become eligible for nomination for this scholarship program after meeting the minimum scholarship simulator time requirements as a right seat crewmember with CAE SimuFlite. You will then be on your way to gaining valuable experience in a crew environment, and learning the importance of good Crew Resource Management in the cockpit. This can be an ideal first step in obtaining the valuable experience that may be required by a future employer. Many of our past right seat crewmembers have moved on to actual flying positions, which became available to them through the experience received here at CAE SimuFlite. Due to the time and expense that CAE SimuFlite invests in your training, we do ask for a commitment from you to stay in this position for a minimum of 12 months, unless you should receive a full time employment opportunity as a pilot on the aircraft we have trained you in sooner. We also ask that once you commit to a scheduled simulator event in a right seat position, that you put high importance in making it to that session, unless an emergency should arise. It is usually very hard for us to fill a last minute cancellation from our right seat crewmembers. If this program looks like it would be of interest to you, fill out the application. We will be glad to consider you for this position, but of course we cannot guarantee how soon a position will become available. No phone calls please. | |||||||
